MISSION DISPATCH 14 09/12/01 Today's Weather - images courtesy of NOAA & RSMAS Dispatch by Rebecca Johnson - HARBOR BRANCH Oceanographic Institution Latitude: 40°21'15"N Longitude: 68°8'42"W
HURRICANE ALERT!!! The R/V SEWARD JOHNSON is currently in port at Gloucester, MA. The mission had retreated to port to avoid Hurricane Erin, which has not turned as previously hoped. Swells are reported to be high in the ops area, and small craft warnings are in effect. As a result, the cruise has concluded and the R/V SEWARD JOHNSON will be returning to its home port at HBOI. Look back on the Mission Dispatch links to read about the collections of Nanomia and learn how these amazing siphonophores were successfully studied and documented during two weeks exploration in the Gulf of Maine. Do you have a question for the researchers on this ocean expedition? Just ask a question @Sea in our MISSION FORUM! ![]() | ||
